This extended appointment allows ample time to thoroughly review your medical history, conduct a full-body skin examination, and discuss any dermatological concerns. For follow-up visits regarding ongoing skin conditions, appointments are typically scheduled for 15 minutes. However, if you prefer more time with Dr. Sarhan, you can request a longer 30-minute session.
For those seeking personalized primary care, Dr. Joseph Sarhan offers an exclusive concierge practice with a complimentary introductory discovery call. To maintain the highest quality of care, Dr. Sarhan limits the number of patients in his practice. Concierge patients benefit from a comprehensive one-hour introductory visit, including a detailed physical examination. This visit encompasses a thorough assessment of medical history, current medications, vaccinations, family history, genetic predispositions, and lifestyle factors such as mental health, sleep, diet, and exercise.
After your consultation, we will develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your unique needs and goals. At Guilford Dermatology, you will always be seen and cared for by Dr. Joseph Sarhan, a board-certified physician specializing in dermatology—not by a nurse practitioner or physician assistant. ABOUT DERMATOLOGIC SURGERY
While Mohs surgery, a specialized technique often used for treating skin cancer on sensitive areas like the face, scalp, hands, feet, and genitalia, is not available in our office, we recognize its critical role in comprehensive skin cancer care. Mohs surgery is also indicated for rare forms of skin cancer or cases where cancer has recurred.
To ensure our patients receive the best possible care, we maintain strong collaborative relationships with highly respected dermatologists in our community who are experts in the Mohs procedure. If you require Mohs surgery, you can be confident that our commitment to your care extends beyond our office. What insurance do you take?
We are considered out-of-network for all private insurance plans, allowing our patients the flexibility to choose any physician they prefer. Please note that we do not accept Medicare Advantage HMO plans.
Can I use my insurance for prescriptions with direct care?
Yes, you can continue to use your health insurance for prescriptions at your preferred pharmacy.
At Guilford Dermatology, we strive to prescribe generic medications whenever possible to keep your costs down. However, we understand that even some generics can become expensive. If that happens, we will work closely with you to find alternative medications or pharmacies that offer more affordable options.
Will I see the physician or a nurse practitioner (NP) or physician assistant (PA) during my visit?
At Guilford Dermatology, we believe that every patient should be seen by a board-certified physician at each visit. Our practice is dedicated to providing expert care, and we do not employ physician assistants or nurse practitioners. You will always receive the highest standard of care directly from Dr. Joseph Sarhan.
I'm a new patient, do I need to do anything before my appointment?
New patients enrolling in our concierge medicine program will have a detailed 1-hour initial visit, including a full-body physical exam. For this appointment, please bring your ID, any lab work from the past year, a list of your current medications and supplements, and any other relevant information that will help us begin your healthcare journey with Dr. Joseph Sarhan.
When is payment due for service?
Payment is required at checkout for all medical, cosmetic, and surgical visits at Guilford Dermatology. We accept credit cards, as well as Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards. Your credit card information will be securely stored in our processing system at the time of booking. Please note that charges will apply for no-shows, as well as for cosmetic and surgical deposits. HSA and FSA cards are to be used only for non-cosmetic services. Some procedures may also require a deposit at the time of booking.
