Dr. Robert Langdon is a triple board-certified expert in Dermatology, Cosmetic Surgery, and Facial Cosmetic Surgery. Education & Experience
Dr. Langdon earned his medical degree from Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine and completed his dermatology residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital in 1984. He became board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology in the same year and later by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery in 2004, with recertification in 2014. From 1984 to 1990, Dr. Langdon served as a full-time faculty member in the Department of Dermatology at Yale University School of Medicine.
During his time at Yale, Dr. Langdon conducted significant clinical research on surgical techniques. Collaborating with Plastic Surgery colleagues, he co-developed an innovative skin grafting method that has gained worldwide adoption and was first published in The Lancet, a leading British medical journal.
In 1990, Dr. Langdon left Yale to advance his clinical training at the Laser and Dermatology Institute of California in the Los Angeles area. There, he mastered cutting-edge laser surgery techniques, particularly using carbon dioxide and pulsed dye lasers, and further honed his skills in skin cancer treatment and cosmetic procedures.
Publications
Dr. Langdon has authored over 50 scientific publications, including nine book chapters focused on cosmetic surgery techniques. His contributions to recent surgical textbooks highlight advanced facial cosmetic procedures, such as minimal incision facelifts, endoscopic brow lifts, and blepharoplasty.
In 2004, Dr. Langdon published Understanding Cosmetic Laser Surgery, a book designed to help patients navigate the world of cosmetic laser treatments. This book is now part of the permanent collection at Yale School of Medicine’s Harvey Cushing and John Hay Whitney Medical Library.
Understanding Cosmetic Laser Surgery delves into laser physics and skin physiology, providing a foundation for understanding how different generations of cosmetic lasers work. Dr. Langdon serves on the medical staff at Yale-New Haven Hospital and holds the position of Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at the Yale University School of Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Langdon is a proud member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. His practice has earned accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).
